A cat litter mat can be a great thing to have around the litter box to collect extra litter from your cats paws.  When you cat jumps out of the litter box after scratching around in their there's bound to be some litter clumped onto his paws and having a cat litter mat place where he will step can help rub off some of that letter much like a doormat can rub off the dirt from the bottom of your shoes. 

These mats come in a range of colors to fit the contents of the room you'd like to put it in. Color should not be a concern because all possible shades are usually present. You can go light with white and cream and dark with navy blue and black. Of course, you still have all the different colors in between.

These mats can have various textures, some are like carpet, some are rubber, and some are like fake grass with little plastic soft blades that stick up.  They are designed to be somewhat abrasive on your cats pads so that the litter will rub off.  This can be helpful, unless you are able to teach your cat to wipe his feet after he gets out of the letterbox!

Most are priced a little over $10; however, some are even priced lower than that. You can easily buy these at all pet shops near you or even over the Internet. Try to purchase a few pieces. If you can put one near the cat's litter box and one near their favorite house entry point.

A cat litter mat can be a great solution to muddy cat prints all over the floor near the letterbox.  It can help you into cleaning efforts as there will be less litter tract around the home.  Get a large size or even more than one to put it on all sides of the litter box so that you can wipe your cats feet no matter which side he exits from.
